I started to post on TikTok.

To experience first hand how the algo works, how it differs from Reels & Twitter.
I’ve finally cracked the algorithm and have consistently gone viral.

Here’s what I’ve learned
Some background:
No I didn’t dance.
I shared lessons from superinvestors & breakdown businesses.
Similar to what I do on Twitter.
But when you think about the backbone of success on social media…
Here’re the key success factors
What it takes to succeed on TikTok, in order of importance:
– High completion rate, this means that they must watch at least 40-60% of your video
– Number of saves/favorites
– Comments
– Likes
In a platform with an attention span of a goldfish…

It’s challenging when I’m not talking about:
sex, money saving tips, celebrity gossips, Jim Cramer style stock tips
Teaching boring ol’ investing concepts is tough on TikTok
But I discovered a secret hack.
This secret hack helped me stand out on TikTok and produce viral posts consistently.
And I’ll be revealing the secret hack on my Instagram and TikTok.

Back to the story 👇
The secret hack
(and also the most annoying factor)
Tik Tok algo prioritize creators who are geographically in the same location as the user.
This is UNIQUE to Tik Tok. Twitter and Instagram doesn’t do this.
This means that for me, living in Singapore…
I need to come up with content that relevant to the average young Singaporean (this is TikTok’s demographic).
Who are obviously not as sophisticated as you guys on my email list. 😏
The stories I tell and the examples I give must be RELEVANT to the geography I’m in.
Instagram on the other hand…
Is a lot tougher to crack for new content creators.
The platform prioritizes existing big accounts or famous folks.
The traction I’m getting there is about 10% of TT.
The gap in discoverability between IG & TT is HUGE.
Toxicity on the platform
One other observation…
The toxic comments on Tik Tok is immense.
Tik Tok is about 10% of the traffic I get on Twitter.
But the toxic comments is 100x
Actually I don’t really get any toxic comments on other social media platforms.
Once again… follow me @steadycompound
I hope this has been interesting to you!
